Welcome to plastic Free July!

Brill Parish Council is committed to building a sustainable and harmonious environment for residents, visitors, and future generations. We are therefore delighted to support Plastic Free July. Visit the Plastic Free July website for facts and inspiration.

Let's make a start by each of us taking a look at our household plastic recycling. Are we doing it properly? Do we sling everything in the blue bin regardless - or forget and bury our dirty cans and cardboard in our green bins? Time to do it properly!

The Rubbish Wizard on the Bucks Council website it great; give it a go. You can suggest items not included to make it even better.

Looking for ideas about living plastic-lite? Try Just One Thing: a series of pieces written by members of Brill Climate Action Group (BCAG):

Short and sweet - and packed with genuinely do-able ideas. Follow the links above to read the BCAG pieces and then visit the Plastic Free July website for facts and inspiration.

The Plastic Free July website is packed with inspiring ideas to minimise the use of plastics in our day-to-day lives. If it all looks a bit overwhelming, try this:

  1. Click on Get Involved / What You Can Do

  2. Choose THREE topics (click 'load more ideas' to see all the options)

  3. Commit to taking ONE action for each topic

Your BPC Instagrammer chose Bin Liners, Fruit & Vegetables, and Buy Less. They're off now to look for certified compostable bin liner bags (old plastic bags are NOT ok!) and, however rushed they are, they're going to choose loose fruit and vegetables in the supermarket - because one of the dangers of lightweight plastic film is that it blows away during disposal and is eaten by wildlife. Later on, they're going to research 'planned obsolescence', 'perceived obsolescence', and 'circular economy' and make a hard decision about a leisure purchase they're planning...

Which three actions are YOU going to commit to?
