MUGA: bookings now being taken

Brill's brand new multi-use games area* - or MUGA - is now open for bookings; book now to use March 7th onwards. Click on the button below or follow the link on the Welcome page of the Brill Parish Council website.

You can book a 30 or 60 minute slot (or combination thereof) up to three weeks in advance. Note that several hours each day have been blocked out for Brill School so, if your first choice is not available, try another day or time. Don't forget to bring racquets and tennis / netball / football balls and whatever else you need; only a tennis net is supplied. People can also just drop-in and play, provided nobody else arrives with a confirmed booking.

The main question now: "moo-gah or "mug-gah"? What do you think?!

*Two-thirds of the cost of Brill’s MUGA was met by a generous grant from FCC Communities Foundation’s (formerly known as WREN).

Jubilee ‘22 in Brill

We’ve started a Jubilee Planning Page to help keep everyone informed of progress. Here you will find details of the five main events and a list of tasks for which we need volunteers to help make each event a brilliant success.

Brill’s Jubilee in brief:

• A huge, two-week outdoor display of community-made flags on the theme of Hopes & Dreams for the future of Brill’s environment and community

• A bonfire beacon on Brill Common; the finale of a torchlit village gathering and part of the chain of 1,500 beacons the length and breadth of the UK on the evening of Thursday June 2nd

• A sharing, bring-a-chair village picnic on the Playing Fields, with children’s sports, games, crafts, fancy dress, tea tent, bar and music, on the afternoon of Sunday June 5th

• An open air community act of worship featuring popular Songs of Praise and other songs sometime during Sunday afternoon

• A year-project inspired by The Queen’s Green Canopy; 70 trees for the Jubilee - and remembering Pete Davies, late of the Brill Environment Group

Please email us if you’d like to be added to our Jubilee Planning mailing list. We want to hear from you even if you’re not able to volunteer; we need suggestions and advice from all sections of the community, especially older people. What would make Jubilee 22 in Brill special for you?

New on the Parish Council website

As our January poll demonstrated, Brillites are seriously worried about two things: inconsiderate parking and speeding cars. Both are complex issues with no quick solutions - but we’ve made a start. Read our blog to keep up with our plans; the challenges, the costs - and (eventually) our successes.

Our first post concerns parking on Sun Corner (the junction of Windmill, Temple and High Streets). Maybe a bit tongue-in-cheek - maybe not! - but is it possible we’ve already solved this problem?!! Click the yellow button to find out.

Coming Up: A Busy Weekend in Brill!

Saturday March 19th, 9am to noon : Brill Community Market on The Green outside the Church

Bacon sandwiches and homemade produce, freshly brewed coffee and children’s books - and more, including a couple of Parish Councillors ready to answer your questions, hear your concerns, or just chat.

Saturday March 19th, 7pm : Brill Playground Committee’s Race Night in the Memorial Hall

Drinks, yummy food and (maybe) big wins. Your £10 ticket will include a burger or hot dog - but don’t delay; numbers are limited so buy your ticket today at Constables, Brill Stores or on the Playground’s Just Giving page. See poster above.

Sunday March 20th, 10am - noon : Brill Climate Action Group’s Clothes Swap Swap in the Memorial Hall

Drop off your pre-loved good quality adult and children’s clothes* at King’s Ride House, March 9th - 16th in exchange for tokens to use at the Swap Shop on March 20th. Admission 50p; tea, coffee and cakes on sale. Look out for posters around the village.

*Clean clothes (on hangers, please), jewellery, accessories, and handbags. No underwear, socks or shoes.
