Unsung Hero

Tim Patrick of Windmill Street, Brill has been awarded the accolade of Unsung Hero by Countess Howe, the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire. This is in recognition of Tim’s tireless voluntary work in environmental care, much of which goes unnoticed by the wider community.

Tim has been involved for many years in the care and nurture of The Walks, mainly as an ever-willing and incredibly hard-working volunteer for the Brill Village Community Herd and The Friends of Brill Common. His knowledge and passion for trees has helped shape this oasis of peace and natural beauty within Brill Village.

Tim’s invaluable contribution was formally celebrated at a garden party at Penn House in Penn on July 13th.

Thank you, Tim, for all that you do.

Get involved … Village

This sounds intriguing! Village is a new, large-scale photographic and community story project facilitated by Buckinghamshire Culture - and Brill has been chosen as one of the communities of focus. There’s talk of a mass photograph at the windmill and a story telling event in the Church - but that’s as much as we know. Come to the meeting and find out more.

Buckinghamshire Culture thank Rev Gemma Beesley and Cllr Liz Springs for enabling this meeting. Refreshments will be served. If you are interested but cannot attend, please email Ursula White of Buckinghamshire Culture.

Do your bit … drive the community bus

This volunteer-led service is really appreciated by residents of Brill and Oakley; a lifeline for non-drivers and others who just want a relaxing trip to do some shopping. It’s the only bus from Brill to Bicester - and six times a year isn’t a big ask, is it?!

Email Cllr Anne Staff of Oakley Parish Council to express your interest in keeping this valuable service running smoothly. Note that the community bus is a small bus and you need only the usual car driver’s license.
