New Parish Councillors for Brill

Welcome and congratulations to our four new parish councillors - and a sincere THANK YOU for helping to write the latest chapter in Brill Parish Council’s 144 year history.

We want to bring the team up to full strength as soon as possible by co-opting three further councillors. If you hesitated to put yourself forward for election (which didn’t prove necessary), now’s your chance. Please email the Parish Clerk saying why you’d like to be a councillor and what you would bring to the role and we’ll take it from there. Remember, you don’t have to serve the full five years. Maybe try the role for twelve months? Don’t forget to check your eligibility on the Electoral Commission website before you apply.

If you personally can’t commit, maybe you know someone else who would be suitable and just needs a bit of encouragement? Please give it some thought.

Brill Parish Meeting

This informal annual gathering is the Parish Council’s opportunity to acknowledge and thank the myriad of hardworking, fun and effective groups that exist in our community; from All Saints Church to Aunt Sally matches at Brill Sports & Social Club.

Representatives of clubs and charities are invited to submit a brief report of their activities using this online form. Don’t worry; this isn’t an Annual Report for Shareholders! - just a simple account of recent achievements and challenges. It’s also a great opportunity to consider whether you would benefit from a Section 137 grant from the Parish Council. Read the 2024 reports on the Brill Parish Council & Community website.

The Meeting starts at 7pm and the Club bar will be open. After the group reports, Cllr Emi Slater (who has worked for five amazing years for the benefit of Brill Common) will talk about the recent National Lottery Heritage Fund grant and the role of the newly-appointed Wildlife & Community Ranger.

We look forward to seeing you on April 28th.

VE 80th Anniversary Celebrations

Current international events focus our minds on peace in Europe; a peace hard won during the Second World War. Thursday May 8th marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day and Brill will be commemorating the event with a community bbq and beacon.

Cllr Liz Springs is leading on the plans but we need HELP from residents to make this a brilliant event for all concerned! Please email Liz ASAP.

Alternatively, if they’d like to read a paper copy, please tell them there are always copies of the newsletter on the Parish Council noticeboard (on the front wall of the Memorial Hall), in the pouch on the door of the Parish Office (near the Memorial Hall kitchen), and in All Saints Church, the shops and the surgery.
