At our last meeting, the Parish Council discussed the flying of drones around the windmill, the riding of e-bikes across the common, and the overnighting of campervans in the carpark. It was decided that a polite notice would be the first step in discouraging these activities.

Do you live on The Square?

Our beautiful war memorial garden is looking a bit woeful, in spite of Nicky Misselbrook’s hard work - because it’s been so dry.

If you live close by, please, maybe once a day, could you take out a bowl or bucket of dirty water (from the washing up or bath) and give the plants a drink?

Brill’s best-kept secret?

If you’re not a parent of little children or a dog walker, you may not know about Brill’s MUGA; the Multi-Use Games Area. The all-weather surface is marked up for football, netball, basketball, tennis or just running madly around; perfect if youngsters are at a loose end over the holidays.

Brill MUGA is FREE and open to everyone 7am to 8pm and, although bookings are steady, there’s plenty of vacant slots every day. Book a 30 or 60 minute session - or just turn up and play (so long as nobody with a confirmed booking appears).

This post will be re-advertised early in August, online nationally and in local print. Loyal readers will recall that the excellent candidate chosen back in March declined the offer at the very last minute. We feel confident we’ll be more successful this time. Brill Show

Now in its 69th year, Brill Show is a friendly, traditional village show with a full schedule of adult and children's classes for growing, baking and preserving, and arts and crafts. Read the Schedule online or pick up a copy in Constables Convenience Store, Brill Sports & Social Club, or The Pointer Pub (and Butcher’s). Look out for weekly updates and news on Facebook.

The ABOUT tab is Parish Council stuff: minutes, financial reports and policies; newsletter archive; parish maps - and brief bios of our new councillors.

The COMMUNITY tab includes community safety, four pages of Brill clubs and groups and businesses, a potted history of Brill, and some of our Best of Brill features.

Looking for waste and recycling services, the latest from Brill Common or wondering what a living verge is? Click on the ENVIRONMENT tab - and go to LEISURE if you want to visit the windmill, book the MUGA, or reserve an allotment.

PLANNING and ROADS are self-explanatory (the latter includes Brill bus services) whilst HELP & CONTACT includes a large directory of services to refer to if you need help, be it accessing mental health services, dealing with debt, or getting a lift to the clinic and hospital appointments.

A community website is only worth the considerable effort required if it meets the needs the local residents so please do tell us if you find errors, out-of-date information, broken links - or if there’s something new or different you’d like included.

This newsletter is emailed every month to nearly 200 subscribers and we really appreciate your interest and support.
