Make or Break for Brill Parish CouncilWe make no apology for repeating this item - because it’s so important. Brill Parish Council has been serving the community continuously for 144 years. Councillors come and go - some serve for six months, some for a decade - but the council’s strength lies in its whole; in a diverse team, many with strong views but united in wanting the best for Brill. Sadly, for the last year, the Parish Council has been running at half strength and, even after the publicity of the local elections, only four of the seven seats are filled. This means more work for the existing councillors and fewer projects undertaken with the energy and enthusiasm they require. It also takes the Council perilously close to being inquorate and unable to conduct even routine business whereupon BPC would, in all likelihood, be incorporated into a neighbouring parish council. We therefore urgently need to co-opt three more councillors. Being co-opted is much easier than being elected - with far less paperwork! Just email the Parish Clerk saying why you’d like to be a councillor and what you would bring to the role and we’ll take it from there. Remember, you don’t have to serve the full five years. Maybe try the role for twelve months? If you personally can’t commit, maybe you know someone else who would be suitable and just needs a bit of encouragement? Another female councillor would be particularly welcome - or maybe a young adult to get a different voice? Please give it some serious thought.
